ARTIST PROFILES

As a recitalist, Sonny Chua has performed at The Sydney Opera House, The Melbourne Concert Hall (Hamer Hall) and many festivals, including the Spoleto, The Melbourne Festival and the Promenade of Sacred Music (around 10 years ago).

Sonny works regularly with students and teachers in festivals and music symposiums. His recent work with boys and music education has been published and is frequently presented at national and international conferences. Sonny’s original music is heard in competitions and on the radio, and can be found in all Australian examination syllabi. His music is published by All Music Publishing and Distribution (formerly known as Allans Publishing).

Sonny spoke on singing in schools at the 2006 International Society of Music Education World Conference in Kuala Lumpur and was Guest Festival Director of the Piano Summer School at the Sydney Conservatorium. Sonny was Musical Director for the Walt Disney Company, Artistic Director for the Red Hill festival, and a writer for Opera Australia. Sonny is the immediate past Director of Music of the Hamilton and Alexandra College and is the current Director of Music of Mac.Robertson Girl's High School.
