ANDREA KEEBLE

Andrea Keeble is a Melbourne violinist specialising in contemporary music. Recent tours include The David Chesworth Ensemble performing at the "Arenes de Montmartre" in Paris, "The Big Chill Festival", Ledbury U.K. 2007 and in Brisbane 2008 "Restrung" Festival with the Brodsky String Quartet, and Aphids production of David Young's "Skin Quartet" performing at Sydney Opera House, Portland (USA) TBA Festival, Brussels and Johannesburg 2005. Recording artists and performers include Renee Geyer, Mick Harvey, David Bridie and The John Butler Trio. Recent National tours include My Friend the Chocolate Cake 2005 and The Black Arm Band "murundak" 2008. Andrea worked as a casual violinist for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra from 1993-2005.

Solo violin recordings include on 3MBS (May 11th 2008) Derek Guille's Show 3LO (2007) and frequently on Owen McKern's "Delivery" Show 3RRR. Extended techniques (the loop pedal) became a feature in a number of Andrea's compositions since working with guitarists Cam Butler (Cam Butler and the Shadows of Love Orchestra) and Scott Morgan in Stroll.

Andrea is a member of the quintet Cosmo Cosmolino which was nominated for an ARIA Award in 2005 and her collaborative recording project Stroll received critical acclaim for its debut CD "Carnival of Lost Souls" ("…evocative, cinematic listening experience of uncommon beauty and mystique...captivating" - Sydney Morning Herald, Sydney), signed to MGM for distribution and was a finalist in the "International Songwriting Competition" in Nashville, USA 2005.

Andrea is a sought after and influential educator in the violin string playing community in Melbourne. She was involved in the selection process of repertoire for AMEB Violin Series 7 and worked on the Violin Alive DVD Series as editor, consultant and performer. She attended Hamilton College and Geelong Grammar School for her secondary schooling and was a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts and the University of Melbourne. Andrea presently is a Music Faculty staff member at Monash University, a string lecturer at the University of Melbourne and an AMEB examiner.
